Our Good Friend Inujured

Many of our friends know that I am a close friend of Rick Caran and Jilli Dog - the world's only poker playing dog. Well last week I recieved the terrible news that Jilli had been attacked and injured by a large dog.

Jilli would have been killed if it weren't for Rick grabbing the larger dog and pinning him down so that he could not break little Jilli's neck. Jilli received a large gash in the neck that required 32 stitches. She survived the attack and is healing, but she is unable to close one eye. It seems that she might have suffered permanent nerve damage. Time will tell.

For all of our friends with little dogs... please protect them and keep them away from large breed dogs. It only takes a second for a tragedy to occur.

My family experienced a similar misfortune. My parent's lost our first Yorkie to a large stray that entered our yard. Our little Skipper was outside on a lead to make potty. He never knew what hit him. The stray killed him with one bite. It was unbelievably painful to loose Skipper that way. It took my parents 20 years before they would get another dog.

So pet parents-- keep your little loved doggies away from the big dogs. Take no chances. Fence in your yards to keep your dog in, and other dogs OUT.
